Rodan Energy has immediate opportunities for both Metering and Protection & Control Technicians. In this role, you will provide technical services to our utility, generation, commercial and industrial clients.
Responsibilities
The Technician will be responsible for supporting Rodan and its clients, by providing technical services in the areas of electrical systems, metering, power systems and energy management services. This includes installation, testing, commissioning, electrical wiring, maintenance, audits, technical proposals, design, project management and trouble resolution. The Technician will also perform design, configuration, installation, on-site configuration and maintenance of metering, SCADA and energy management systems, including hardware, software and communications as well as end-user training.
This role requires some travel within Ontario and will be based out of our Mississauga office, although positions may also become available in our other offices, namely, Thunder Bay, Timmins, Sudbury, Sarnia, Sault Ste. Marie and Ottawa.
Qualifications/Skills
The ideal candidate will have a background in electrical power distribution, metering, protection and control or electrical systems. Required and desired experience includes:
- Metering Technician position requires a MEARIE (or equivalent) Metering Technician Trade Certificate
- Protection & Control Technician position requires good understanding of operating systems, experience in substation maintenance and overhaul; SCADA or other supervisory system experience
- Post-secondary education in a related technical field (e.g. Electrician, C.E.T., P&C experience or Journeyman Meterperson) or other relevant work experience with a continued focus on updating your skills
- General computing background including Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel
- AutoCAD experience is an asset
- Good customer relationship skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively complete tasks
- Attention to detail, excellent time management and ability to work independently and in a team
- A valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver's Licence and an excellent driving record
