Rodan Energy to Provide Demand Response Services to
City of Toronto
:: July-18-2011 ::
Mississauga, ON, Canada, July 18th, 2011 – Rodan Energy Solutions Inc. (Rodan) will work with the City of Toronto on their Demand Response 3 (DR3) program. The DR3 program encourages users of electricity to reduce electricity consumption at times when the system capacity is reaching its limits and during periods when wholesale electricity prices are very high.
Rodan’s DR3 program is designed to provide large energy users the opportunity to secure Ontario's electricity supply and reduce their environmental footprint. For the City of Toronto, this will mean reducing power usage when provincial electricity demand forecast approaches supply capacity. To accommodate this reduction, it will temporarily reduce electricity consumption for non-essential activities such as lighting and cooling at its facilities throughout the city.
Rodan won the work after a competitive procurement process that saw submissions from companies throughout Ontario.
“Rodan is pleased to be working with the City of Toronto as their provider of Demand Response services,” stated Paul Grod, President of Rodan Energy. “The Rodan team has begun work on the project and the City of Toronto will play an important role in the continued success of the Demand Response 3 program.”
